'A history maker:' Greenwich Academy teacher recalls bringing students to meet Justice Ginsburg in 2018

A Greenwich Academy teacher is reflecting on the time she took her students to meet Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg at the Institute of Public Purpose in 2018 to teach them about democracy and citizenship.
"There is no possible way that you can be in her presence and not know that you're in the presence of a history maker," says Connie Blunden, a civil rights teacher.
She says she teared up when she and her students met Ginsburg, who was known for endlessly advocating for women's rights. Ginsburg died Friday from metastatic pancreatic cancer.
Blunden says she knows it’s important to elevate and amplify role models like Ginsburg for her students, and that she will continue to do that for years to come.
She says although there is uncertainty of what comes next with the upcoming election and the Republicans' desire to fill her seat before it, she'll remember what Ginsburg said to her students.
Yolanda Lewis, a former student, says Ginsburg's words left an impact on her. She's now a political science major at Providence College with plans to go to law school.
