NEWTOWN - Players from the National Hockey League spent the day meeting with families affected by the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting.

Members of the Boston Bruins made their way to the Newtown Youth Academy, where coordinators say 1,200 children registered for today's events. The players met individually with kids, signing autographs, taking photos and handing out giveaways.

The team also held several private hockey clinics with children from the district.

The Bruins will honor Sandy Hook Principal Natalie Hammond at a home game in March.
