Police have arrested a man who they say confessed to four recent bank robberies in Bridgeport and Fairfield.Ron Aponte was apprehended after an intense standoff with police Wednesday night. Police say the 38-year-old Aponte barricaded himself inside the house on Hazelwood Avenue. Aponte and three others eventually surrendered. Aponte was the only person taken into custody where police say he later confessed to the bank robberies.Police say surveillance tapes led their investigation to Aponte. They say in each heist he handed a note to the teller, demanding money and threatening that he had a weapon. However, he never used any violence. Aponte is being held on a $250,000 bond in Fairfield.
