A customer inside a Stratford convenience store is being credited with thwarting an armed robbery.
The incident occurred at Dolly's Deli on Boston Avenue, where an armed man ordered the store owners down on their knees at gunpoint.
While the gunman attempted to get the cash from the owners, a store customer can be seen on video surveillance grabbing a bottle of Corona beer and smacking the would-be robber on the head.
During the struggle, the gun went off, striking a nearby shelf.
The customer and another man attempted to hold the gunman down, but he was able to get away. The gunman left a trail of blood from the store to the street, providing DNA evidence for investigators.
Anyone who recognizes the would-be robber is asked to call Stratford police.
