A Danbury family is trying to raise money for their grandson's future after his 27-year-old father died of an overdose in February.
Justin Beaulieu leaves behind his 4-year-old son, Jackson, after spending years fighting addiction. He was living in a halfway house in Florida after rehab at the time.
The family tells News 12 trouble began in high school when he started smoking marijuana, which then lead to harder drugs.
His family says they want to guide their grandson in the right direction with the fund.
The family has raised over $7,000 for the college fund - which is $2,000 over their goals.
The family is hoping that by sharing their story, they can help someone else struggling with addiction.
