Firefighters in Bridgeport are investigating a fire that tore through a vacant building Sunday night.
The fire happened at a home on Berkshire Avenue at around 5:30 p.m.
Firefighters say no one lived there and that the house will need to be torn down. The two neighboring houses were saved, though about a dozen people were evacuated from one of them. The other home was also vacant.
They say the fire spread quickly in part because of asphalt siding. The damage was so severe that crews could not get inside to put the fire out.
