Fire tears through homes on Jackson Avenue

One day after a three-alarm fire tore through several apartment buildings along Jackson Avenue, forcing residents into the frigid night, firefighters returned Wednesday morning to put out a pocket fire.
A woman was rushed to the hospital with burns to her hands, and five firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
One resident says although all his possessions were destroyed by the blaze that started at 1102 Jackson Ave., he is thankful that he and his neighbors are alive.
The Red Cross is housing at least three people whose homes were damaged by the overnight blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
