One could say it was destiny for Chef Adrien Blech to end up in the culinary industry.
It was no surprise to his family that he decided to open up a restaurant and make it a family affair.
The original Orienta first opened in 1995 in New York.
"It was my father's first restaurant that he opened on the Upper East Side," said Blech.
Two and a half decades later Adrien brought Orienta over state lines into Greenwich.
They planned to open just as everything began to close due to the pandemic. But they survived and unknowingly caught the eye of a specific show.
With some encouragement, Blech took on the challenge of going on "Beat Bobby Flay."
"I thought I would be able to really show what I can do and at least match what he could do," he said.
His episode airs Thursday at 9 p.m. on the Food Network.
