(AP) - A Connecticut man whose plea bargain was thrown out by a state judge has opted for a jury trial on chargeshe terrorized several families with phone calls.
Fifty-seven-year-old Charles Dubord of Shelton was allowedWednesday to withdraw his guilty pleas and request a trial inMilford Superior Court.
Families in several towns say they were called by a man whoclaimed he had abducted their daughter and he made horrifyingthreats, including sexual torture and kidnapping.
Dubord pleaded guilty in January to multiple charges in a pleadeal that called for two years in prison. A judge threw out thearrangement last month, saying it was too lenient.
Dubord faces up to 50 years in prison, but he also has similarcharges pending in other communities.
