Mark Sudol is a news reporter for News 12 Connecticut. He is an Emmy and Murrow award winning journalist, who joined the team back in February of 2009. Sudol is a Connecticut native and has more than 25 years of broadcasting experience.

A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Sudol worked at the campus radio station reporting news and sports. After working at several commercial radio stations, he broke into television as a sports producer for WFSB-TV in Hartford. His first on-air job was in Kirksville, Missouri, where he was the weekend news and weather anchor.

Later on in White River Junction, Vermont, Sudol continued his sports journalism career and became the Sports Director at WPTZ-TV in Burlington, Vermont. He worked there for ten years and anchored several Olympic Zone specials before moving on to freelancing in Boston and the New York metropolitan area.

Sudol has won several Associated Press awards including 2 Best Sportscast honors. In 1998, he was named the Vermont Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. He also was recognized by the state of New York for his coverage of high school sports.

Sudol has covered several big news events, including the Pope’s visit to New York and the day Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy was rushed to the hospital.

When he is not working he enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife Mallory, his son James, and his stepchildren Kim, Chris, Ryan and JP. and JP.
