BRIDGEPORT - Police are investigating a shooting in Bridgeport that left a 26-year-old man dead in the city's first murder of the year.

Gloristine Thomas says gunfire woke her up early New Year's Day and she ran downstairs to find her son Greg laying in the doorway of their Howard Avenue home. Police say he was fatally shot right outside their house. Thomas says she didn't see who shot her son.

Police are currently investigating the murder.
