FAIRFIELD - A 70-year-old man was found dead tonight inside his Fairfield home, and hazmat crews found potassium cyanide inside the residence.
Police initially responded to a call at 32 Clinton St. When they entered, they found a note that stated hazardous materials were in the home. Police then called in fire and hazmat crews. The hazmat team went into the home and discovered the potassium cyanide.
According to fire officials, the contamination was contained to one small area inside the house. They say crews are working to decontaminate the area.
Fire officials added that there is no threat to the neighborhood.
