STAMFORD - Police are searching for the person who stole thousands of golf balls from a Stamford driving range.

Officials at Sterling Farms say about 10,000 balls were taken from downrange when they were left out for the winter.

They say someone would have had to collect the balls by hand.

The range says the balls are not good enough to be used on a course and their only use is at a driving range.

They say the balls are worth about $1,000.
