10 people rescued from island in Long Island Sound

Authorities say the group had walked the sandbar to Charles Island yesterday, but then got trapped there by the rising tide.

MILFORD - Milford firefighters say they had to rescue of a group of 10 people, including eight children, from an island in Long Island Sound.

Authorities say the group had walked the sandbar to Charles Island yesterday, but then got trapped there by the rising tide.

Firefighters say they used a Jet Ski to quickly get the two youngest children to shore.

They say they used boats to rescue the others.
