10-year-old girl drowns in Lake Mohegan

STAMFORD - A 10-year old girl from Bridgeport drowned in a Fairfield lake on Tuesday.

Police say Catherine Celina Perez Trujillo was with her family when they swam over a drop off in Lake Mohegan. When the water went over their heads, she did not resurface.

A member of the Fairfield Dive Team found her body 45 minutes later and pulled her from the lake.

The incident occurred on the northside of the lake where swimming is not allowed.
