BRIDGEPORT - Eleven people were displaced today after a massive fire destroyed their multi-family home in Bridgeport.

Fire officials say the blaze broke out around 10 a.m. on Newfield Avenue and quickly spread through the second and third floors. Firefighters say everyone was lucky to make it out of the house safely.

The Bridgeport Arson Investigation Unit and state fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire. They say the blaze looked suspicious, but now believe it may have started accidentally.

The Red Cross is helping the families find temporary food and shelter.
