NEW YORK - Nearly a dozen people reportedly made their way through security at John F. Kennedy International Airport without being checked.

News 12 is told that 11 people were not screened as they went through an unmanned security checkpoint at Terminal 5 around 6 a.m. Monday.

The Transportation Security Administration says early reports indicate that three passengers did not receive the required secondary screening after alarms were set off in the walkthrough metal detectors.

Port Authority police say they did not receive information about the incident until two hours after it occurred, when they were alerted by a TSA supervisor. They have been able to locate three of the 11 people who boarded a flight to California, where they were expected to be screened.

The other eight people must still be found.

The TSA says it is confident that the incident presented minimal risk to the transportation system and that appropriate action will be taken.
