FAIRFIELD - More than 1,000 children are participating in Fairfield Library’s summer reading program - a great way to boost brain power over the summer, according to experts.

The library is giving out ice cream, shopping sprees and other prizes to children who read a certain number of books.

The Fairfield Library also has 150 teens signed up as part of its program.

Language pathologist Sherry Artemenko, of Southport-based "Play on Words," says that it’s not too late to sign children up for a summer reading program.
