FAIRFIELD - The state Department of Emergency Management delivered 14 new trailers to Fairfield County today that will be used as emergency shelters for families.
The trailers, one for each town in the county, were delivered to the Fairfield Fire Department?s headquarters, where the state's emergency management commissioner handed out keys.
Commissioner Peter Boynton says it's his department's job to get the federal funds, but it was up to local police and fire chiefs to decide that the trailers were a necessity.
Boynton says the trailers are filled with everything, including cots, blankets and diapers.
