NORWALK - Police say a series of stings targeting the local drug scene ended Thursday with 19 arrests in Norwalk, Bridgeport and Stamford.

The sting, dubbed "Operation Hammertime," was organized at Norwalk police headquarters.

Norwalk Police Chief Harry Rilling says that during multiple planned drug raids, his department's main target was the Ely Avenue apartment of alleged drug ring leader Gavin Hammett, 45.

Police say Hammett's apartment, as well as the Bridgeport and Stamford raids, turned up a significant amount of evidence, including a gun, bundles of heroin and several cars.
