BRIDGEPORT - Students and teachers at Bridgeport's Roosevelt and Dunbar elementary schools left for summer vacation yesterday without knowing if they will return in the fall.

A Board of Education committee recommended this week to keep both elementary schools open, but a final decision will not be made until Monday night.

Budget problems have forced the district to consider closing the schools, although the school superintendent's office says it will propose a new series of cuts to keep the schools open.
