BRIDGEPORT - The Department of Motor Vehicles announced today that its Hamden and Danbury branches will now offer additional services to drivers. The move will mean people who live in Milford, Woodbridge and throughout southwestern Connecticut will now have alternatives to the Bridgeport office. Drivers complain that the average time at the Bridgeport DMV is at least two to three hours.

As of today, the DMV will now offer six full-service hubs in the region instead of only four. The Danbury and Hamden branches will now offer license renewals, eye tests, road tests and inspections.

DMV Commissioner Melody Currey says there are no immediate plans to increase staff at the Danbury and Hamden branches, but that the move should ease some of the overcrowding at the Bridgeport DMV.
