NORWALK - Police say they've arrested two men with the Department of Public Works who are suspected of pocketing payments for garbage dumped at the Norwalk Transfer Station.

Authorities say a 5-month investigation revealed that the amount of trash that reportedly came into the dump surpassed what was actually there.

DPW workers Francis Antunes, 49, of Trumbull, and Robert Grover, 47, of Norwalk, were 'weight masters' tasked with weighing piles of garbage at the dump on Crescent Street. Investigators allege that the two men were tipping the scales to overcharge people who dropped trash there and then pocketing the extra cash.

Police say the men have been charged with felonies punishable by up to 10 years in prison or fines up to $10,000.
