STAMFORD - Fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that forced two families from their home on Horton Street in Stamford early yesterday evening.

Officials say flames may have started in the basement where a heater and a light were plugged into the same circuit.

The Marriott family owns the house and lived on the first floor. It says it is devastated by the fire and is still trying to salvage anything it can.

No one was injured and the Red Cross is now helping the families relocate.
