BRIDGEPORT - The family of a Bridgeport woman who was hit by a car while crossing the street last night says she is in intensive care this evening, along with her friend who was also struck.

Police say 23-year-old Dyshai Mims and 22-year-old Jamesha Brown were hit near the intersection of Clinton and Fairfield avenues at around 5:45 p.m. yesterday.

Mims' family says she is at Saint Vincent's Medical Center being treated for several broken bones, while Brown is at Bridgeport Hospital with similar injuries.

Police say the driver immediately stopped and is cooperating with authorities. They say no charges have been filed against the driver, but that may change as the investigation is ongoing.

Traffic enforcement was increased today at the intersection where it occurred in response to the accident.
