2 hospitalized after car flips over on Garfield Avenue in Bridgeport

Police are investigating an early-morning accident that sent at least two people to the hospital. Witnesses say that two cars collided near 533 Garfield Ave.

BRIDGEPORT - Police are investigating an early morning accident that sent at least two people to the hospital.

Witnesses say that two cars collided near 533 Garfield Ave. just before 2 a.m., causing one to roll over. The sound of the impact was so loud that it woke up neighbors in homes nearby. 

Witnesses also say that first responders had to cut two people out of their vehicles, and they were rushed to the hospital. Traffic in the area was stopped for several hours.

Police are not yet releasing the names or conditions of the victims.

Authorities say the cause of the crash is still unclear.
