2 men arraigned for allegedly using counterfeit cash

WESTPORT - Two men were arraigned today at Norwalk Superior Courthouse on charges that they passed counterfeit $100 bills at several Westport businesses.

Trendell Rogers, 33, and Walter Nichols, 40, face numerous forgery and larceny charges.

Police say they caught the men after they got calls from two businesses that had just received the fake bills. Police say they then spotted the men at the International Wine and Sprit Shop.

Police say the suspects had 18 fake $100 bills on them when they were arrested. They also say they recovered six bills from area businesses. Authorities say about $1,000 in real cash was on the suspects that was change received from using the fake money.

Both men are wanted for questioning in several other communities, including Norwalk and Milford.
