2 more charged in UConn stabbing case

STORRS - (AP) - Police investigating the stabbing death of University of Connecticut football player Jasper Howard havearrested two more people in the case.

UConn police on Thursday charged 22-year-old Rahim Muhammad, ofBloomfield, with hindering prosecution, tampering with evidence andinterfering with police. Police say he moved or concealed evidencebut would not elaborate.

Twenty-two-year-old Hadiyah Vanover, of Windsor, has beencharged with tampering with a witness and interfering with police.He allegedly tried to coerce at least one witness into notcooperating.

It's unclear if Muhammad and Vanover have lawyers.

Eight people have now been arrested in connection with the Oct.18 stabbing.

Also Friday, a case involving 18-year-old De'quan Muhammad, who was accused of hindering prosecution, interfering with policeand other charges, was continued until Jan. 8.
