BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport police say two people have been hospitalized after a shooting Monday morning on Sheridan Street.

Authorities say the incident happened at around 10 a.m. Neighbors say they saw a gray car flee the scene, only to smash into a utility pole a short time later. The suspects proceeded to run from the crash, but were apprehended and brought in for questioning, police say.

Several nearby schools were put on lockdown for 20 minutes as the events unfolded.

Investigators have yet to disclose a motive in the shooting.
