BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport school officials say more than 20 players have been disqualified from Harding High School's football team for not meeting the city's new academic standards.
They say the new rules ban students from playing in games if they've received an "F" in what the district considers a core class. The players say they're being held to a higher standard than most of their competitors.
Reginald David, a disqualified player, says, "I believe it's unfair because, I mean, I passed for the year so I should be able to play this year."
A local resident has enlisted the help of a lawyer. The resident says they'll sue the Bridgeport School District if disqualifications hurt a student's chances of playing college football.
