3 arraigned on murder charges in Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT - Three young men were arraigned on murder charges today in the shooting death of 17-year-old Blair Belcher, but emotional friends and relatives of the suspects turned out to court to proclaim their innocence.

The fatal shooting happened in Bridgeport on July 30. Police say Belcher and three friends were headed to a house party when shots rang out, killing Belcher and injuring the others.

Joseph Joyner, 20, and Dasheen Brown, 17, were both charged with murder and three counts of attempted murder. A 16-year-old has been also charged as a juvenile with the same counts.

Many of the suspects' supporters were asked to leave the courtroom today, prompting their protests to spill into the street outside of the building.

The suspects are due back in court on Aug. 23.
