DARIEN - Three suspects appeared before a judge Thursday, one day after their arrest in connection with a June bank robbery in Darien.

Police say Floyd Lawrence and Stanley Romsaint, both wearing masks, entered a Commerce Bank on June 12. The men allegedly made off with $158,000 from a vault.

The early morning heist happened as two bank employees, one of them being the third suspect, Klaus Pierre-Louis, were unlocking the front doors of the bank. That?s when police say Lawrence and Romsaint struck.

The other bank employee claims he saw one of the men carrying a gun.

The three suspects now face first-degree robbery charges.

Lawrence, a personal trainer at a Stamford health club, also faces second-degree kidnapping charges in the case. He has two prior robbery convictions, and he is currently serving probation for one of them. On Thursday, his bond was set at $750,000.

Neither Pierre-Louis nor Romsaint have a criminal record. Romsaint's attorney, Lindy Urso, says his client's only tie to the case is that he works out with the two other men at the same gym.

?He goes to school full time, works part time,? Urso says. ?He's a model citizen.?

The suspects will be back in court August 7, and all are expected to plead not guilty.
