BRIDGEPORT - A fire tore through a Bridgeport apartment complex today, leaving three families without a home.

Officials say the flames broke out on Rock Ridge Road at around 11 a.m. The fire was so intense that some residents reportedly jumped from a two-story window to escape.

Firefighters say several people were sent to area hospitals and they believe a dog was killed.

The American Red Cross says it is providing assistance to the 15 people displaced by the fire.
