MILFORD - Three Milford police officers, as well as a police K9, were injured in a fight with a suspect early this morning.

Police were called to the Milford Inn on Old Gate lane shortly before 5 a.m. for a report of a suspicious vehicle.

Police say there they encountered William Hanks. Police say they found drug paraphernalia as well as discovered an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Officers say Hanks fled and they later caught up to him at Secondi's Truck Stop.

Police say Hanks struggled with them there hitting several officers. Hanks allegedly managed to wrap a piece of wire around the neck of one of the officers and tried to choke him.

Police then deployed a K9 on Hanks. They say he struck the dog several times and began to choke him . Officers say the dog began to lose consciousness before they were able to separate him from the dog before finally subduing him.

Police say Hanks later admitted to being on crack cocaine during his arrest.

Three officers were treated for minor injuries. Police say K9 officer Vader appeared fine after the incident but is being monitored.
