3 people sent to the hospital after wrong-way crash on Route 8

BRIDGEPORT - A wrong-way crash in Bridgeport sent three people to the hospital, state police say.

It happened around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday in the construction zone on Route 8 near exit 5.

Troopers say a Stamford woman was driving south in the northbound lanes when she hit another car, causing it to spin and crash into a third car.

Troopers say the drivers involved in the first collision were more seriously hurt, but are expected to be OK.

Police say no charges will be filed until the investigation is over.
