STAMFORD - Three Stamford police officers may need rabies shots after a pit bull attacked them during a drug arrest Thursday.
Authorities say the 5-month-old dog attacked the officers as they struggled to arrest 26-year-old Charles Tapia at the Stamford train station. They were waiting for him to deliver envelopes of heroin, and he apparently became agitated.
Detectives say the suspect began eating the drugs at the station and was immediately rushed to the hospital.

The dog is currently in quarantine at a shelter as the officers await word on whether they'll need further treatment. Tapia says he just got the dog and is unaware of its full medical history.
