FAIRFIELD - Fairfield officials are warning swimmers after three teenagers got stranded on Penfield Reef.

Officials say the teens walked onto the reef and wanted to swim to the lighthouse yesterday.

They were then stranded by rising waters.

Officials say the town's police boat could not reach them because the water around the reef was too shallow.

They used a smaller boat that belongs to the fire department to bring them to shore.
