4 charged in Stamford jewelry robbery

Four men are facing charges this evening after police say they stole more than $500,000 worth of jewelry in a smash-and-grab robbery at the Stamford

STAMFORD - Four men are facing charges this evening after police say they stole more than $500,000 worth of jewelry in a smash-and-grab robbery at the Stamford Town Center.

Juan Newman, Azizi Brooks, Joseph Jones and a 17-year-old minor are all in police custody tonight.

The men, all from Brooklyn, N.Y., were caught when police say they got lost while trying to get away from the Ross-Simons Jewelry Store.

Officials say that the suspects had a plan, including a hand-drawn map, to help them get back into a waiting car.

That plan was foiled when the commotion that occurred after the robbery caused them to get lost in the parking garage. Authorities say the men were then cornered by a security officer.
