BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport Police Chief Joseph Gaudett confirmed today that four detectives have been removed from street patrol following a deadly shooting Monday night that left one man dead and a woman wounded.
The shooting occurred in the parking lot of the Bayview Shopping Mall on Boston Avenue.
Gaudett says four detectives assigned to a joint state task force were undercover last night and involved in a sting with the two people they shot.

Sources told News 12 Connecticut the subjects of the investigation were trying to sell guns to detectives from their car.
Police say the man and woman were told to put down their guns, but didn't comply and instead pointed a gun at the detectives.
"We want people to trust the fact that our police officers are going to do the right thing," says Gaudett.
