FAIRFIELD - Fairfield police say four people were taken to the hospital after a construction accident at a home on South Gate Lane.

Police say the four men were moving a bathtub from the first floor to the second when the stairs collapsed. They say the men then fell 15 feet to the basement.

Officers say one person suffered a head injury and another suffered a broken leg. Officials say two of the four workers were treated and released.

OSHA was called to the scene and issued a stop work order. However, due to the government shutdown, an investigation into the incident is on hold.
