REDDING - A fifth-grader from Redding is trying to revamp recess and get a new playground for her school by winning a national contest.

Grace Gabriel joined a national competition through Dannon Yogurt called "Rally for Recess" to help build a new playground at John Read Middle School in Redding.

The five winning schools will each get $30,000 to build a new playground.

John Read Middle School is currently ranked seventh in the playground contest, and Grace says they need more points before the Dec. 31 deadline.
