6 hurt when ambulance collides with SUV

BRIDGEPORT - Six people are recovering today after an ambulance carrying a patient to the hospital in Bridgeport crashed with an SUV yesterday.

Police are still trying to piece together what happened near the corner of Wayne and Merritt streets.

After being hit, the SUV flew over a small wall into a yard and crashed into the chimney of a nearby house.

The SUV's driver and male passenger were hurt along with both medics in the ambulance and the patient in the back.

A 1-year old riding in a car seat in the SUV was not injured.
