STAMFORD - Stamford police say they have arrested six Stamford Academy students in random attack cases that are becoming an epidemic of sorts.

Authorities say there have been three such attacks in the past two months, one in December, one last week and one early Wednesday morning.

Investigators say the most recent attack occurred at about 2 a.m. Wednesday, when two Stamford Academy students and one other allegedly jumped a man on Congress Street and robbed him.

Last week's incident left the victim, 64-year-old Victor Eng, with a broken neck and fractured vertebrae. In the December attack, authorities say students wearing Stamford Academy uniforms attacked a man with snowballs so severely that he was taken to the hospital.

Domus, the nonprofit that runs Stamford Academy, says that while it hates the bad decisions its young people sometimes make, it does not reject the person who makes them.
