NORWALK - Police say a 74-year-old Norwalk man was seriously injured Thursday after a tree branch struck him in the head. Friends say he is now fighting for his life.

Police say the incident occurred when the man placed a sign warning others about the branch located on his Rowayton Avenue property. They arrived on the scene at about 10:30 a.m. to find the man lying on the ground with a large cut on the back of his head.

Officials say that the branch fell about 40 feet before striking the man in the head, temporarily rendering him unconscious.
