BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport police are investigating an apparent 911 hoax called in from a school this afternoon.
Police say a student inside the Blackham School called 911 at around 2 p.m. and told the emergency operator that shots were fired inside.
Police quickly secured the school and placed it on lockdown, and some of the students were evacuated. After police determined the incident was a false alarm and that no shots were ever fired, the students were allowed back into the school.
Concerned parents arrived about an hour later to pick up their kids.
Authorities say the child who made the prank call is now in custody.
