BRIDGEPORT - An early morning fire broke out at an abandoned home in Bridgeport on Monday.

It started at around 2:30 a.m. on Dixon Street. Authorities say they got several calls from neighbors about smoke coming from the home.

Firefighters say they found evidence of squatters inside the house. Neighbors say it has been a concern for them for some time.

Director of Anti-Blight Chris Rosario says that the house is in pre-foreclosure, meaning that it is the bank's job to maintain it. He also says the city is still trying to find the owner of the house, which hasn't been easy.

City officials say they have been in contact with the bank about the property in the past and they hope the bank will get it repaired soon.
