SHELTON - A Stratford man appeared in court today on charges he kidnapped and assaulted a clerk at a Shelton Cumberland Farms.
Justin Bonner, 24, is accused of taking the 46-year-old clerk from the store on River Road early Tuesday morning.
The woman was found severely beaten a few hours later near Sunnyside Elementary School. She's currently recovering at Yale-New Haven Hospital from non-life threatening injuries.
According to court papers, Bonner admitted to police he was high on drugs at the time of the attack. In the statement, Bonner also claims to not remember the details of the assault.
Bonner is due back in court later this month and is currently being held on $500,000 bond.
