Accused tavern robbers appear in court

STAMFORD - Two people accused of robbing a Stamford bar Monday appeared before a judge today.

Police say Michael Summers and Candina Watson went into Burns Tavern on Hamilton Avenue with a rifle and sawed-off shotgun and demanded cash. Police say the couple made off with money stolen from the register, but were chased down by several patrons.

Police say the pair may also be connected to two robberies at a Radio Shack on Elm Street.

The judge transferred the case to a court for more serious criminal matters. Watson and Summers are being held on $250,000 bond. They are due back in court in late June.
