Adopted dog shot and killed in Middlefield

MIDDLEFIELD - Police and animal control officers are investigating the shooting death of an adopted dog today.

According to police, ?Buddy? was shot by his new owner's boyfriend in the woman's backyard in Middlefield just a few days after she received him.

Jennifer Gordon, who founded the adoption network that placed ?Buddy,? says she received a phone call from the new owner that ?Buddy? had bitten her.  She says she arranged to pick up the dog, but then received another phone call alerting her that the dog had been shot and killed.

Officials say it is not yet known what caused the man to shoot ?Buddy.?
