NORWALK - The extreme heat that has settled over southwestern Connecticut is apparently driving people to desperate measures to cool off.

An air conditioner was stolen from an outdoor display at the P.C. Richard & Son store in Norwalk. The manager says a man grabbed the unit, put it in his car and took off.

Someone was able to take note of the suspect's license plate. Officers found the man with the air conditioner in his car a short time later, and he was arrested.
